Travel Health

The Surgery also provides travel advice and immunisations.

If you are planning to travel abroad, please make sure you contact us in good time. A minimum of 6 weeks before you intend to travel (3 months where possible) is required so that we can collect enough information to get you covered in time; some immunisations require more than one dose with a time gap.

Please complete the travel form (available from reception) as accurately as possible.

To provide you with a rough idea of possible immunisations and protection required, please visit the NHS Fit For Travel website.

TRAVEL VACCINATIONS :: IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Travel vaccinations are not provided by the NHS but the practice does offer a private service.

This service incurs a charge which the patient is expected to pay prior to receiving the vaccination(s). Patients who wish to use this service are charged the cost of the vaccines and a service fee.

The current charge is £25 per patient plus the cost of vaccine(s).

All vaccines for travel abroad for leisure or employment purposes are ordered for each individual patient.

Please complete and return a travel form to the surgery a minimum of 4 weeks before travel. Travel forms can be obtained from reception.
NB: Some vaccines may be required to be administered up to 10 weeks before travel so please allow sufficient time.

The cost of each dose of vaccine (exclusive of VAT) is as follows:

*A blood test to check immunity for Hepatitis B is also required; this test incurs a cost of £10.00

The Practice is not able to provide Yellow Fever injections. This service is provided locally by Riverview Practice in Wick (01955 602355) or Princes Street Surgery in Thurso (01847 893154). If you require these injections for your travels you should contact either practice directly.
